Tyler, The Creator's latest album 'Chromakopia' has solidified its status as one of the biggest hip-hop releases of 2024. The album has now spent three consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and has surpassed 560,000 total sales in just three weeks.
Chromakopia debuted at #1 earlier this month with an impressive 299,500 first-week equivalent album units. It then followed that up by moving another 160,000 units in its second week. This past week, the album reclaimed the top spot with 104,000 units, pushing its total sales over the 500,000 mark and making it eligible for gold certification from the RIAA.
This marks Tyler's longest-running stint atop the Billboard 200, surpassing the chart-topping success of his previous albums 'Call Me If You Get Lost' and 'Igor'. The commercial triumph of Chromakopia has also powered Tyler to new heights on the Billboard Hot 100, with singles like "St. Chroma" and "Noid" becoming his first top 10 hits.
In addition to its blockbuster commercial performance, Chromakopia has also been met with widespread critical acclaim. HipHopDX crowned it the best rap album of 2024, awarding it a 4.5 out of 5 rating in their review.
Tyler himself has expressed gratitude for the album's success, saying "Thank you to everyone who has listened, skimmed through, put it on repeat, turned off, loved it, hated, grew on, grown off, related to, was foreign to, anything. I really appreciate any ears."
With its continued chart dominance and glowing reviews, it's clear that Chromakopia is solidifying Tyler, The Creator's status as one of the preeminent forces in hip-hop right now. The album's remarkable success is a testament to Tyler's artistry and continued evolution as a musician.
