The 2025 Nike SB Dunk Low "BHM" Celebrates the Forgotten History of Black Cowboys

According to The Smithsonian, one in four cowboys were actually African American, yet their stories and contributions have been largely absent from the mainstream narrative.

Nike SB is aiming to shine a light on this forgotten history with the upcoming release of the 2025 Nike SB Dunk Low "BHM" as part of their Black History Month collection.

The standout design of this Dunk Low features a striking Tourmaline green upper, accented by Monarch orange piping, a Baroque Brown heel, and a red outsole. The branding on the heel is stylized to mimic the look of a rope, perhaps a nod to the lassos used by cowboys to wrangle cattle.

Even the shoelaces feature a similar rope-like detail. Additionally, the heel showcases Sonora-style embroidered designs, a common element found on traditional cowboy boots. Sitting right in the middle is a Western-inspired star.

The insole of the shoe depicts a silhouette of a cowboy set against a yellow, backlit landscape, while the included handkerchief features the message "What's gonna happen is gonna happen" - a fitting sentiment for the rugged life of a cowboy.

While an official release date has not yet been announced, sources indicate the Nike SB Dunk Low "BHM" is expected to drop in February 2025 for a retail price of $135.

This thoughtful design not only pays homage to a forgotten chapter of American history, but also serves as an important reminder that the iconic cowboy culture was far more diverse than commonly portrayed.
