TDE's Punch Claps Back at Kanye West's Criticism of Kendrick Lamar

In a surprising turn of events, Kanye West has once again found himself embroiled in controversy - this time, over his criticism of Kendrick Lamar's music.

It all started when Kanye took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his initial reaction to Playboi Carti's new album, on which Kendrick is featured. Kanye bluntly stated: "I DONT LIKE KENDRICK LAMARS MUSIC. HE RAPS VERY GOOD BUT I DIDNT NEED TO HEAR HIM ON CARTI ALBUM."

This prompted a swift response from TDE president Punch, who took to X to question: "Aye… What's up with this Kanye West n-gga??" Freddie Gibbs soon replied with laughing emojis, leading Punch to repeat the question again: "Freddie what's wrong with this n-gga man!"

This is not the first time Kanye has been critical of Kendrick in recent months. Ahead of the Super Bowl halftime show in February, Ye suggested that Kendrick was being "propped up" by an industry that is selective when it comes to supporting Black entertainers. He even called on Kendrick to "scream free Puff" during his performance, referring to Diddy's ongoing legal troubles.

Despite his comments, Kanye later praised Kendrick's halftime show as his "favorite" since Michael Jackson's in 1993.

Punch's clap back at Kanye's latest critique of Kendrick underscores the deep respect and loyalty within the TDE camp. As the president of Kendrick's label, Punch is clearly not afraid to defend the acclaimed rapper against any perceived slights or disrespect.

It remains to be seen if Kanye will respond to Punch's pointed questioning, but one thing is clear: the relationship between these two influential figures in hip-hop is complex, to say the least. Fans will no doubt be closely watching to see how this latest exchange unfolds.
