SZA Breaks Michael Jackson's Billboard 200 Record as TDE Celebrates

In a major milestone for the R&B superstar, SZA's album "SOS" has officially become the longest-running top 10 album by a Black artist in the history of the Billboard 200 chart. The album surpassed the previous record held by Michael Jackson's iconic "Thriller."

Top Dawg Entertainment founders Punch and Top Dawg took to social media to celebrate SZA's historic achievement. "Our queen @sza surpass the king of pop," Top Dawg wrote on his Instagram Story, while Punch added on X (formerly Twitter): "SMH. Man. This is crazy. @sza you're the illest. The best. We've had this conversation and you didn't believe me when I told you you were the one. You're literally the one. Shout out to the King!"

SZA originally released "SOS" in December 2022, and the album has continued to dominate the charts ever since. In addition to its commercial success, "SOS" earned a total of nine Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year, and won Best Progressive R&B Album.

The singer has continued to build on the album's momentum, recently dropping a deluxe version titled "SOS: LANA" that features 23 additional tracks and a guest appearance from Kendrick Lamar. SZA is also set to co-headline the upcoming "Grand National" tour with Lamar later this year, teasing "insane" plans for the stadium shows.

The success of "SOS" cements SZA's status as one of the biggest stars in music, and her ability to surpass a legend like Michael Jackson on the Billboard 200 is a testament to her immense talent and growing influence. With her continued ascent, it's clear that SZA is well on her way to solidifying her place among the all-time greats.
