Snoop Dogg Recreates Iconic 1993 VMA Performance of "Murder Was the Case"

Snoop Dogg recently took the stage and delivered a powerful homage to one of the most memorable performances of his career. During a recent appearance on Noochie's "Live From the Front Porch" show, Snoop began his set by performing his 1993 hit "Murder Was the Case" - but with a twist.

Just like his iconic 1993 MTV Video Music Awards performance, Snoop started the song seated in a wheelchair. However, halfway through the second verse, he stood up - mirroring the original performance where he defied the detectives waiting to arrest him on murder charges.

The 1993 VMA performance of "Murder Was the Case" became legendary because Snoop was actually wanted by the police at the time. Detectives were present at the ceremony, waiting to apprehend him following the shooting death of a gang member. But Snoop finished the performance, declared his innocence, and turned himself in later that night. He was eventually found not guilty of the murder charge in 1996.

Now, over 30 years later, Snoop has recreated this iconic moment for his recent live show. It serves as a powerful callback to one of the most dramatic and memorable performances of his illustrious career. Fans were surely thrilled to see Snoop pay homage to this historic VMA appearance.

In addition to this live performance, Snoop Dogg also recently celebrated becoming a grandfather for the eighth time. His daughter Cori Broadus gave birth to her first child three months early, with the baby girl currently in the NICU. Cori had a high-risk pregnancy after being diagnosed with HELLP syndrome, a life-threatening condition.

Despite the challenges, Cori and her newborn daughter are doing well. Snoop, who was hoping for a grandson, is surely overjoyed to welcome another grandchild into the family. This latest milestone in the legendary rapper's life and career shows that even decades later, Snoop Dogg remains one of the most iconic and influential figures in hip-hop.
