As the NBA landscape continues to expand with more signature athletes, Scoot Henderson occupies a unique place as the only active player to have a signature shoe right out of the gate. After a successful run with the original Scoot Zeros, Henderson is now gearing up for the release of his second signature model with PUMA - the Scoot Zeros II.
In an exclusive interview, Sneaker News got the chance to sit down with Scoot and dive into the design process behind the Scoot Zeros II. Just like the first iteration, Scoot was heavily involved in the development, providing key insights and feedback to the PUMA team. One of the main areas of focus this time around was the shoe's technical aspects, aiming to create an even more locked-in and glove-like fit.
"The Scoot Zeros had to perform, but the main goal was just to feel right and look right. With the Zeros II, we focused on changing the webbing and the eyelids to act more like a glove when you tie them," Scoot explained. "Other shoes on the market might focus on anchoring the ankle or the toe, but the Scoot Zeros II fits the whole foot rather than just specific areas."
In addition to the enhanced fit and lockdown, Scoot also emphasized the importance of having a cutting-edge, eye-catching design. The Scoot Zeros II features a unique eyelets design that almost resembles wings, as well as the signature FormStrip that will be a calling card of the line.
"Probably the FormStrip," Scoot said when asked about the signature element of his shoes. "We used some iridescent colors there for the Scoot Zeros that I personally loved, and I think how unique we can get with that in the future is something people will latch onto."
One of the debut colorways that Scoot is particularly excited about is the 2K collaboration. Featuring a bold, mismatched theme with crazy patterns on the upper, Scoot can't wait to see the shoes in action on the virtual court.
"Honestly, much as I'm excited to wear them, I'm looking forward to seeing them in the actual game itself. But more than anything, I'm just excited to hear and see people's reactions to the Scoot Zeros II. I think they'll connect with sneaker collectors and older basketball fans on top of the younger crowd."
The PUMA Scoot Zeros II is set to release on December 20th, 2024, in both adult and grade school sizing. Basketball fans and sneaker enthusiasts alike will have the chance to get their hands on this highly anticipated second signature model from one of the NBA's rising stars.
