Quando Rondo Begins Serving 33-Month Sentence at Low-Security Ohio Prison

In a recent development, rapper Quando Rondo has begun serving a 33-month sentence at a low-security prison facility in Ohio. According to Bureau of Prisons records, the NBA YoungBoy signee will be spending his time at the Federal Correction Institution Elkton in Lisbon, Ohio.

Rondo was sentenced in December after pleading guilty to a single count of conspiracy to possess and distribute marijuana. Initially facing up to five years, the Savannah, Georgia rapper (real name Tyquian Bowman) received a reduced sentence of two years and nine months behind bars, along with a $40,000 fine and three years of probation upon his release.

In addition to the prison time, Rondo will be subject to drug testing, mental health counseling, and educational training during his incarceration. Despite the challenges, Rondo seems to be taking the sentence in stride, viewing it as "just one chapter in his next story."

"As crazy as it sounds, that's enough time to really sit down, rehabilitate myself, come up with some better plans, come out and move forward for my family and friends," Rondo told the local ABC affiliate WJCL. He expressed a desire to serve as a role model for the youth, showing them that "doing the right thing and walking down the right path is cool."

Rondo's legal troubles extend beyond the federal drug charges. He also has an open case relating to a DUI following a high-speed car crash in July 2023. In that incident, he was reportedly seen speeding before crashing into another vehicle and allegedly showing signs of an overdose, for which medical professionals at the scene administered aid.

Despite these setbacks, Rondo recently celebrated eight months of sobriety, indicating his commitment to personal growth and rehabilitation. As he begins his 33-month sentence, the rapper's focus seems to be on using this time to "come up with some better plans" and emerge as a positive influence for his community and the youth who look up to him.
