Pras in Hot Water as Feds Seek $65 Million Forfeiture Order

The former Fugees member Pras is facing mounting legal troubles as federal prosecutors have filed a motion seeking a $64.9 million forfeiture order against him. This latest development comes as Pras is already scheduled to be sentenced next month after being found guilty of criminal conspiracy charges, with prosecutors asking for an "extended, significant" prison sentence.

The forfeiture request stems from the government's claims that Pras received over $104 million from Malaysian businessman Jho Low as part of schemes to influence U.S. officials and have a Chinese national returned to China. Around $37 million of that total was addressed in a previous 2018 case, leaving the nearly $65 million now being targeted by prosecutors.

Pras appears to be distancing himself from his former Fugees bandmates Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill, who he suggests abandoned him during his legal troubles. He recently sued Hill over a canceled Fugees reunion tour, accusing her of fraud and breach of contract.

As Pras awaits his January 29th sentencing, he is facing the prospect of a substantial prison sentence as well as the potential forfeiture of tens of millions of dollars. This marks the latest chapter in the ongoing legal saga surrounding the rapper, who once enjoyed fame and success as part of the iconic hip-hop group.
