Playboi Carti Faces Backlash Over Yeat-Inspired Snippet

Playboi Carti has been no stranger to controversy when it comes to his music and its rollout. The rapper's fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the lengthy wait for his third studio album, "I AM MUSIC." Their patience was tested once again this week when Carti released a new snippet that bore a striking resemblance to the sound of fellow rapper Yeat.

The brief snippet showcased a harder, more guttural vocal delivery from Carti, as well as snappier drums - a significant departure from his signature melodic style. Fans were quick to point out the similarities to Yeat's unique production and vocal inflections, with one tweeting "Went from generational snippets like 'Cancun' to 2093 Yeat impressions."

This is not the first time Carti has been accused of biting another artist's sound. His recent single "All Red" was widely criticized for sounding too much like a Future song, with Carti mirroring Pluto's vocal patterns and flow. While Carti is known for his ability to shapeshift between different aesthetics, his fans feel he has taken this too far, compromising his own artistic identity.

According to DJ Akademiks, Carti's label Opium is growing increasingly "confused" by the rapper's cryptic rollout strategy. With a pre-order link already issued for "I AM MUSIC," a further delay could force the label to issue refunds - a scenario that would surely anger Carti's devoted fanbase even more.

As Carti continues to tease new music, the pressure is on for him to deliver a cohesive, authentic project that lives up to the high expectations set by his earlier work. His fans have shown they are willing to be patient, but their goodwill appears to be wearing thin. Carti must find a way to recapture the magic that made him an influential voice in hip-hop, without resorting to blatant imitation of his peers.
