The iconic Air Max 90 silhouette is getting a fresh update with the introduction of the "Reverse Infrared" colorway. Nike has taken the classic design and incorporated carbon fiber elements into the upper, creating a modern and lightweight take on this retro runner.
Originally designed for speed on the track, the Air Max 90 is now undergoing a weight reduction process. Nike has woven carbon fiber into the build of the upper, giving it a sleek and technical look. The signature Infrared hue that launched the shoe in 1990 has been reversed, with the iconic color now appearing as accents against a black toe box and ankle collar.
The grey suede quarter panel comes in a slightly darker shade than the typical Neutral Grey, providing a nice contrast to the bright Infrared touches. While the red hue is still present, the real standout feature is the woven carbon fiber textile that covers the upper. This material, though likely not actual carbon fiber, adds a premium and futuristic aesthetic to the classic silhouette.
Sneaker fans can expect the Nike Air Max 90 "Infrared Carbon Fiber" to release soon for $140. With five different Air Max 90 "Camo" variations and a racing-themed design also on the horizon, 2025 is shaping up to be a strong year for the 35-year-old silhouette.
The combination of the iconic Air Max 90 design and the modern carbon fiber elements makes for a truly unique and eye-catching sneaker. Fans of retro runners and those seeking a fresh take on a classic will undoubtedly be eager to get their hands on this latest iteration of the Air Max 90.
