In a shocking turn of events, rap superstar Nicki Minaj is facing the prospect of criminal charges after being accused of assaulting her former manager, Brandon Garrett.
According to a lawsuit filed last week, the incident allegedly occurred in April 2023 following a stop on Minaj's Pink Friday 2 Tour in Detroit. Garrett claims that Minaj assaulted him in her dressing room after learning that he had sent someone else to pick up her prescription medication.

The lawsuit alleges that Minaj struck Garrett with an open palm, causing his head to "swing backwards as his hat flew off his head." Garrett also says his wrist was left "throbbing" after Minaj smacked it, causing him to drop various items.
Garrett further claims that Minaj launched into a vicious verbal attack, telling him "You're a dead man walking. You just f***ed up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I'll make sure of it."
The lawsuit states that the incident left Garrett fearing for his safety, and he allegedly locked himself in a bathroom for several hours afterwards. He was also notified that he would no longer be working for Minaj.
Through her lawyer, Minaj has denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit "completely false and frivolous." However, Detroit police have reportedly sent a request for a warrant to the prosecutor's office to determine if they can arrest and charge the rapper.
Garrett is suing Minaj for assault, battery and "intentional infliction of emotional distress," seeking unspecified damages. This developing story is sure to garner significant attention in the weeks and months ahead as it makes its way through the legal system.
We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available. Stay tuned.
