In a remarkable achievement, the late hip-hop legend MF DOOM has scored the highest-charting album of his career with the posthumous reissue of his 2004 classic Mm..Food. The 20th anniversary edition of the album, released on November 15 via Rhymesayers Entertainment, debuted at a new peak of #18 on the Billboard 200 chart.
This surpasses DOOM's previous highest-charting solo album, 2009's Born Like This, which peaked at #52. His 2005 collaborative album with Danger Mouse, The Mouse and The Mask, had previously reached #41.
The reissue features several newly added tracks, including a remix of "One Beer" by DOOM's frequent collaborator Madlib, as well as remixes of "Hoe Cakes" from Jake One and Atmosphere. Additionally, the deluxe vinyl edition includes a bonus 7-inch picture disc with the rare original version of "Kookies" and a Just Blaze remix.
Differentiating the 20th anniversary release from the original, the reissue also features new artwork courtesy of Sam Friedman. Fans can also get their hands on exclusive merchandise, including an MF DOOM action figure and cereal bowl set, available on the Gas Drawing Room online store.
The renewed interest in DOOM's music comes shortly after the release of an authorized biography, The Chronicles of DOOM: Unraveling Rap's Masked Iconoclast, written by veteran music journalist S.H. Fernando Jr. and published by Astra House. The book is described as "a sweeping and definitive biography" that will "recount the rise, fall, redemption and untimely demise of one of Hip Hop's most enigmatic and influential figures."
With this impressive chart performance and the release of the biography, the legacy of the masked rapper continues to grow, solidifying his status as one of the most revered and influential figures in hip-hop history.
