Max B Confirms 2025 Prison Release in Rare Joe Budden Interview: 'Wavy Baby Coming Home!'

In a highly anticipated interview, rapper Max B has officially confirmed his upcoming release from prison in 2025. The Harlem-bred artist, known for his influential "wavy" rap style, called into Joe Budden's "Silver Surfer" podcast and shared the exciting news with listeners.

"I'm feeling righteous, man," Max B told Budden during the episode, which was published on December 11th. "I'm doing alright. This is almost over. Wavy Baby coming home real soon."

The 46-year-old rapper, whose real name is Charles Wingate, revealed that his long-awaited freedom will come on November 9, 2025. He has spent the last 18 years behind bars after being convicted of felony murder, robbery, and kidnapping charges in 2009.

However, in a major legal victory, Max B's convictions were vacated in 2016, and he subsequently pled guilty to aggravated manslaughter. This led to a dramatic reduction in his original 75-year sentence down to just 20 years, and then further to 12 years.

Now, with less than a year remaining on his sentence, Max B is eagerly anticipating his return to the music scene. During the interview, he expressed excitement about collaborating with "the big names, the head honchos" in the industry.

"Listen, I'm not going to put myself in a box," he said. "I can't wait to get in the studio. There's a lot of artists out there, too many to name. I'm looking forward to working with the big names, the head honchos. I'm not going to put myself in a box. I'm open for all that but they gotta be A-list. I'm fucking with A-list. If this shit ain't A-list, I can't fuck with it."

The news of Max B's impending release comes on the heels of a report that he will soon be dropping a number of his classic mixtapes on streaming platforms in the coming weeks. This will mark the first time that much of his music has been widely available on services like Spotify and Apple Music.

Fans have long awaited Max B's return, with artists like Cardi B continuing to express their admiration for the influential rapper. In a 2024 interview, Cardi B stated, "I will play the same 9 songs till my kids go to college" - a clear testament to Max B's enduring impact on the genre.

As the countdown to November 2025 begins, the hip-hop community eagerly anticipates the homecoming of the "Wavy Baby" and the new musical collaborations and creative ventures that are sure to follow.
