Lil Durk's Engineer Puts Doubts in Prosecutors' Murder-for-Hire Case

In a surprising turn of events, Lil Durk's engineer and producer, Justin Gibson, has submitted evidence that appears to challenge the prosecution's case against the Chicago rapper. Durk is currently facing serious murder-for-hire charges related to the killing of Quando Rondo's cousin, Saviay'a Robinson.

According to the report, Gibson, who has been working with Durk since 2021 and describes himself as the artist's "main sound engineer," submitted an affidavit and supporting screenshots to the court on Sunday, December 15th. The evidence provided by Gibson seems to poke holes in the government's theory that Durk "sought to commercialize" Robinson's death by rapping about it.

Specifically, Gibson stated in his affidavit that he witnessed Durk writing his verse for the track "Wonderful Wayne and Jackie Boy" with Babyface Ray, which references audio from a news clip "taken shortly after [Robinson's] murder where [Quando Rondo] screamed 'no, no!' after seeing [Robinson's] dead body." However, Gibson claims that he recorded Durk's verse for this track on January 25, 2022 - almost seven months before Robinson was killed.

To support his claims, Gibson provided screenshots showing that he had saved a rough draft of the track (originally titled "2 Toxic") on the date he said he recorded Durk's verse. This evidence suggests that the lyrics in question were written and recorded well before the alleged murder-for-hire plot.

Durk is also being connected to the killing of an alleged Chicago gang leader, Stephon Mack, in January 2022. Unsealed court documents claim the rapper funded the shooting death of Mack, who was believed to be the leader of the Smashville faction of the Gangster Disciples. The killing is believed to have been payback for the murder of Durk's brother, Dontay "DThang" Banks, who was shot and killed outside a nightclub in Harvey, Illinois in 2021.

While Durk has not been charged in connection with Mack's murder, the investigation is still ongoing, according to police sources.

The evidence provided by Durk's engineer, Justin Gibson, appears to be a significant development in the case, as it could potentially challenge the prosecution's claims and cast doubt on the murder-for-hire allegations against the rapper. As the legal proceedings continue, it will be interesting to see how this new information is received by the court and how it may impact the overall case against Lil Durk.
