Kendrick Lamar is poised to cement his legacy as one of the greatest rappers of all time at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The Compton kingpin enters this year's ceremony with a staggering seven nominations across five categories - the third most of any artist.
Kendrick's explosive Drake diss track "Not Like Us" is up for two of the prestigious "Big Four" awards - Record of the Year and Song of the Year. If it wins in either category, it will make history as the first diss song to ever take home a Grammy. Previous contenders like Drake's "Back to Back" and Eminem's "Without Me" have come close, but fallen short.
"Not Like Us" is also nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, where it faces stiff competition from Kendrick's own collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin, "Like That." Winning either of those would further cement Kendrick's dominance in the rap categories at the Grammys.
But the real prize is in the all-genre categories of Song and Record of the Year. "Not Like Us" will be going up against pop juggernauts like Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, and Billie Eilish. If Kendrick can pull off the upset, he'll become just the second rapper ever to win those top honors, after Childish Gambino in 2019.
Such a triumph would also push Kendrick's career Grammy total to 22, putting him within reach of surpassing Jay-Z and Kanye West as the most decorated rapper in Grammys history. The TDE titan has achieved this in a relatively short time, with his first Grammy nomination coming in 2014 - a year that saw him controversially snubbed for Best Rap Album.
Kendrick's potential sweep at the 2025 Grammys would cap off a banner year that has already seen him become the first hip-hop artist to headline the Super Bowl halftime show. It's a level of success and acclaim that cements his status as the undisputed Best Rapper Alive. Not even the most litigious of opponents would be able to deny his greatness after a historic Grammys performance.
