Julio Foolio's Fifth Murder Suspect Captured After Six Months on the Run

In a major development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Florida rapper Julio Foolio, police have finally captured the fifth suspect after a six-month manhunt.

Davion Murphy, a 27-year-old man, was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office on Monday, January 6th at an apartment complex in the city. He has been booked into the Duval County Pre-Trial Detention Facility and will now face trial for his alleged role in Foolio's killing.

"This arrest highlights our commitment and perseverance to solving this murder," said JSO Director of Investigations and Homeland Security Mark Romano. "While it took some time, JSO and partners worked daily to hold these individuals accountable."

Foolio was gunned down outside a motel in Tampa in June 2024, on his 26th birthday. Two other people were also injured in the shooting.

The four other suspects in the case - Isaiah Chance, Alicia Andrews, Sean Gathright, and Rashad Murphy (Davion's brother) - were all arrested last July. Three of them have pleaded not guilty, while Rashad Murphy is exploring an insanity defense.

Gathright has also been linked to a previous attempt on Foolio's life in October 2023, when the rapper was shot. Police found Gathright with shell casings from a gun related to that earlier shooting during his arrest.

The case has been a complex and high-profile one, with the suspects going to great lengths to evade capture. Rashad Murphy, for instance, was involved in a dramatic standoff with a SWAT team at an apartment complex in Jacksonville before he was eventually apprehended.

The arrest of Davion Murphy marks a significant milestone in the investigation, as authorities continue their efforts to bring all those responsible for Julio Foolio's tragic death to justice.
