Nike's Doernbecher Freestyle collection is back for its 20th anniversary, and this year's lineup includes a special Nike Pegasus 41 designed by 11-year-old Tima Sviridenko.
Tima, a bone marrow transplant recipient diagnosed with X-linked lymphoproliferative disease (XLP), drew inspiration from his love of cats for the design of this Pegasus 41. His family cat Murka can be spotted hanging off the lateral Swoosh, while his favorite cat stuffed animal, Murzik, appears as a lace-hanging patch.
The tropical color palette was chosen to honor Tima's bone marrow donor Dylan, who resides in Florida. The date of Tima's bone marrow transplant, March 4th, is featured on the ends of the laces, with one lace tip reading "March Forth" as a clever interpretation.
Other unique details include custom outsoles featuring cat paw prints that glow in the dark, and lace tips customized with the names "Dylan" and "Tima" as a nod to the 11-year-old's donor.
Tima's Pegasus 41 will release on January 25th, 2025, alongside five other Doernbecher designs created by patients of the Doernbecher Children's Hospital. All proceeds from the collection will go towards benefiting the hospital.
Be sure to mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information on how to secure a pair of this heartwarming and one-of-a-kind Nike Pegasus 41 "Doernbecher."
