Introducing the Air Jordan 6 "Doernbecher" - A Tribute to Inspiration and Giving

In the world of sneaker collaborations, few hold as much meaning and impact as the Doernbecher Freestyle collection from Nike. For the past 20 years, this annual series has connected Nike's creative teams with patients at Doernbecher Children's Hospital, resulting in unique and inspiring designs that not only look great, but also raise vital funds for the hospital.

This year, the 20th anniversary of the Doernbecher Freestyle collection, Nike is set to release a special Air Jordan 6 designed by 15-year-old Jillian Beagley. Jillian's story is one of resilience and hope - she was diagnosed with a serious liver disease as an infant and underwent a transplant at age 11.

The Air Jordan 6 "Doernbecher" designed by Jillian is a true work of art, with thoughtful details that speak to her journey. The alternating blue and pink colorway reflects her upbeat energy, while a set of interchangeable velcro patches represent her favorite sports and activities. Most poignantly, the shoe features embroidered text reading "Give Life" on the toe box, a tribute to her living donor and a call to action for others to consider organ donation.

Other design highlights include heart-shaped perforations across the collar, quarter, and forefoot, as well as text reading "Sports Are My Joy" on the medial side of the midsole. A glittery gold tongue and stitched "Gold" text under the Jumpman logo on the heel echo the idea that everyone is "Pure Gold."

The Air Jordan 6 "Doernbecher" is scheduled to release on January 25th, 2025, with all proceeds benefiting Doernbecher Children's Hospital via the OHSU Foundation. This special sneaker not only showcases Jillian's creativity and personal story, but also serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that can be made when we come together to support those in need.

As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Doernbecher Freestyle collection, let's be inspired by Jillian's journey and the countless others who have been touched by this incredible initiative. By supporting the release of the Air Jordan 6 "Doernbecher," we can help make a real difference in the lives of patients and their families at Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
