Hip-hop legend Ice Cube is back with a brand new album! The 55-year-old rapper and actor has revealed the release date and cover art for his upcoming eleventh studio album titled "Man Down."
In an announcement posted to his Instagram account, Cube wrote: "The album my fans have been waiting on. MAN DOWN drops on 11/22, pre-save the album now." The album cover art shows a Black teenager walking down a street in Los Angeles, passing by various people lying face down.
According to the tracklist on Apple Music, Man Down will be a 19-song project, featuring some big name collaborations. Killer Mike and Busta Rhymes are both set to appear on the single "Ego Maniacs." Cube has also recruited an impressive roster of West Coast hip-hop icons for guest features, including Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Kurupt, B-Real, E-40, and Too $hort.
In a recent interview, Cube explained his approach to making the new album, saying he wanted to deliver an "authentic, quintessential Ice Cube" sound for his loyal fans. "Around the Laugh Now, Cry Later record, right before that record I was like, 'When I pick up an Anita Baker record, I want it to sound like Anita Baker,'" he said. "I felt like Ice Cube fans are the same way. When they pick it up, they want it to be authentic, quintessential Ice Cube. That's what I've been worrying about delivering... That's what I been focused on — doing records that are totally me."
Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music from Ice Cube, whose last album was 2018's Everythang's Corrupt. With the West Coast legend assembling such an impressive roster of collaborators, Man Down is shaping up to be a must-listen project for any true hip-hop head. Mark your calendars, because Ice Cube's new album drops on November 22nd!
