First Look at the Unreleased Nike Air Foamposite "New York Yankees" Sample

The Nike Air Foamposite has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years, and sneaker fans are eagerly awaiting new colorways and releases. Recently, a first look at an unreleased sample of the Nike Air Foamposite One in a "New York Yankees" theme has surfaced, and it's sure to get sneakerheads talking.

The sample, which was provided by Index Portland, features a navy blue and white upper that draws inspiration from the iconic uniforms of the Bronx Bombers. The alternating striping pattern on the upper is reminiscent of the "Sharpie" Foamposite colorways that were popular in the early 2010s. The addition of a light grey outsole and lace collar further nods to the Yankees' road uniforms.

This type of color-blocking is a rare sight for the Foamposite silhouette, but it's not without historical precedent. Back in 1997, Penny Hardaway himself colored in the indented grooves of his Foamposite shoes with a black Sharpie marker to comply with the NBA's uniform rules at the time, which required the shoes to be at least half black.

The New York Yankees are known for their strict appearance guidelines, including their notorious no-facial-hair rule. While the team has become more lenient with these customs over the years, the NBA seems to have no such restrictions when it comes to the colors of in-game footwear.

This size 9 sample of the Nike Air Foamposite One "New York Yankees" is currently available directly from Index PDX for $3,500. Given the rarity and exclusivity of this unreleased colorway, it's likely to be scooped up quickly by collectors and die-hard Foamposite fans.

Stay tuned to Sneaker Scene for more updates and information on this intriguing Nike Air Foamposite One sample, as well as any potential future releases.
