ChatGPT Projects: Organizing Your AI Chats Just Got Easier

OpenAI is rolling out a new feature for ChatGPT that aims to help users better organize their interactions with the popular AI chatbot. Called "Projects," this new functionality provides a folder-like system to keep track of the various things you're working on in ChatGPT.

As shown in a demo video, the Projects feature will appear in the sidebar of the ChatGPT interface. When you create a new project, you can customize it by editing the title, setting a color for the project icon, and adding files or instructions to guide how ChatGPT responds within that specific project. You can also easily add previous chat sessions to a project to maintain context.

This new organization tool could be a game-changer for power users of ChatGPT. Instead of the usual method of just dumping everything into one big conversational history, Projects allows you to compartmentalize your work into distinct workspaces. This could be especially helpful for tasks like planning a Secret Santa gift exchange, mapping out a home improvement project, or any other endeavor where you need to keep various pieces together.

The Projects feature is rolling out now to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Teams subscribers. Free users will gain access "as soon as possible," while Enterprise and Edu customers will see it "early in the new year," according to OpenAI's Chief Product Officer Kevin Weil.

Overall, ChatGPT Projects seems like a smart addition that makes the AI chatbot even more useful for a wide range of productivity and organizational needs. By providing a more structured way to manage your interactions, it could help you stay on top of your work and get more out of your time with ChatGPT.
